By: Carolyn VanBrocklin

The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market will take place on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Over 200 talented artists will display their work in five large downtown venues: the Durham Armory, the Durham Arts Council, Golden Belt Arts, TROSA Furniture & Frame Shop and Vega Metals.

Various sites around Durham including 28 supporting businesses, 17 year-round art spaces and 6 restaurants will be open during the weekend to accommodate visitors.

Additionally, there will be performances  at the Durham Armory including cheerleaders Durham Divas ‘N’ Dude and spoken word artist Derrell Young,  as well as at the Durham Arts Council, where Second Shift, an a-cappella group will perform.

“The creative economy is booming here in Durham,” said Durham Arts Council Executive Director Sherry DeVries, “and this event is a great example of this upsurge with so many talented artists at a single event working in every imaginable medium.”

The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market has been produced by the Durham Arts Council, with support from community sponsors, since 2003.  The event is free and open to the public, rain or shine.
