NC Symphony to perform at Appalachian State University

The Mountain Times – The North Carolina Symphony will perform at Appalachian State University for its 2010-11 Performing Arts Series.

The performance, “From Brahms to Bach – and Bach Again,” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m.

Under the direction of music director Grant Llewellyn, the performance will feature Brahms’s “Variations on a Theme by Haydn” and Haydn and Bach’s “Concerto for Violin and Oboe,” which will feature two soloists, Melanie Wilsden, oboe, and Dovid Friedlander, violin.

The North Carolina symphony was founded in 1932 and holds 175 performances yearly.

Advance tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and Appalachian’s faculty and staff and $10 for Appalachian’s students and students 18 and under.
